We are proud to share that Dr. Maitreyee Parulekar, Consultant at Nalini Speciality Hospital (Centre of Excellence in Endometriosis), Mumbai, presented a rare and complex surgical case at the prestigious IAGE–AAGL Conference 2025, held in Pune from 14th to 16th March. Her outstanding presentation earned widespread appreciation and recognition, making it a proud achievement for our entire team.
Award-Winning Case Presentation
The video presentation showcased a rare case of a suture granuloma infiltrating the bladder, which was efficiently managed with laparoscopic surgery. The case demonstrated precision, expertise, and innovation in dealing with unusual post-surgical complications. The entire faculty and audience at the conference applauded the approach and surgical excellence.
Case Details
The case involved a 33-year-old female with a history of LSCS (Lower Segment Cesarean Section) six months earlier. She presented with:
- A gradually progressive abdominal lump (3 months duration)
- Recurrent urinary tract symptoms (frequency, urgency, repeated UTIs)
- Low-grade fever (since 1 month)
- Mild abdominal pain
A CT abdomen revealed diffuse thickening of the rectus muscle with ill-defined scarring and a collection measuring 5.3 × 3.0 × 5.5 cm, extending into the extraperitoneal space and adhering to the urinary bladder. This rare finding confirmed the presence of a bladder-infiltrating suture granuloma.
Recognition & Appreciation
The case was met with widespread appreciation for its innovative management and clinical precision. Dr. Parulekar’s award-winning presentation reinforced the hospital’s commitment to world-class care and medical excellence, pushing the boundaries in advanced gynecological surgery.
